WASCD Exectutive Director 

Wis­con­sin ASCD is look­ing for a dynamic, expe­ri­enced edu­ca­tor to pro­vide lead­er­ship to the WASCD Board of Direc­tors and our 500+ mem­bers. The ideal can­di­date will have a pas­sion and demon­strated lead­er­ship in the areas of cur­ricu­lum, instruc­tion, and assess­ment; a depth of under­stand­ing of edu­ca­tional research and trends; expe­ri­ence work­ing with mul­ti­ple edu­ca­tion agen­cies and orga­ni­za­tions; and a track record of advo­cacy for Wis­con­sin schools.

Qual­i­fi­ca­tions:

Edu­ca­tion Background:

  • Mas­ters Degree in education-​related field required
  • Min­i­mum five years of demon­strated lead­er­ship experience

Skills Require­ment:

  • Expe­ri­ence and vision on how to mar­ket and com­mu­ni­cate the vision of WASCD
  • Expe­ri­ence net­work­ing with a wide range of state edu­ca­tional leaders
  • Demon­strated lead­er­ship in the areas of teach­ing and learning

Job Descrip­tion:

  • Serves as the “face” of WASCD by con­nect­ing with other orga­ni­za­tions across the state and net­work­ing with state leaders
  • Facil­i­tates pro­fes­sional development
  • Brings new ideas to the full board for consideration
  • Assists in the plan­ning of Board meetings
  • Actively advo­cates for seats on DPI com­mit­tees that focus on instruc­tional best prac­tices (for WASCD Board mem­bers or the Exec Dir themself)
  • Attends Leg­isla­tive Lis­ten­ing Ses­sions at State Capitol
  • Attends (and even­tu­ally present at) State Con­fer­ences such as:
    • AWSA
    • WASB
    • WASDA
  • Estab­lishes a reg­u­lar com­mu­ni­ca­tion process with officials/​organizations such as:
    • The State Superintendent
    • AWSA Lead­er­ship
    • WASB Lead­er­ship
    • Governor’s Office
    • State Leg­is­la­tors
    • Dis­trict Super­in­ten­dents

Require­ments of Role:

  • Aligns lead­er­ship, gov­er­nance plan, and activ­i­ties strate­gi­cally with all other plans and activ­i­ties of the affil­i­ate and the ASCD community
  • Devel­ops and imple­ments lead­er­ship and gov­er­nance plans that reflect the evolv­ing role of the affil­i­ate as it seeks to improve services
  • Devel­ops and imple­ments a suc­ces­sion plan to ensure the smooth tran­si­tion of leadership
  • Aligns bud­get with strate­gic plan by hav­ing ade­quate finan­cial reserves
  • Advances the vision and achieve­ment of the mis­sion of the affil­i­ate and the ASCD community

Note: WASCD employs a part-​time Exec­u­tive Office Man­ager to assist with day-​to-​day operations.

Salary Range: $50,000 — $65,000 based on experience

FTE: Part-​time/​130 days over a 12 month period; sched­ule reflects agreed upon events and duties.
