New Directors of Curriculum Program 2012

As a new or relatively new director of instruction or person assigned with related administrative duties, your many tasks and responsibilities may seem overwhelming.  This year in the state of Wisconsin there have been many new hires to these types of positions.  Based on survey information this fall of known new directors, several issues of interest were identified.  Based on their feedback the WASCD New Directors Program has been re-designed for 2012 to meet those needs in formats also identified as desirable through the survey.

We invite you to join us for part or all of the following opportunities:

Two single day meetings with other new curriculum administrators, in a central location (Madison or the WI Dells depending upon where program participants are located)

Day ONE: Jan. 31, 2012

DPI – Bits of wisdom to help you navigate your new role

The number one issue identified by new directors was figuring out state and federal requirements.  Meet the people that are DPI. You have seen their names. You may have even talked with some of them. Here is an opportunity to talk directly with them to seek their advice and clarification.

Day TWO:  April 24, 2012

Putting it all together

Learn how to put together a curriculum, instruction and assessment model for your district, conceptualization, audit, process, product, and progress monitoring.

  • District models will be shared by WASCD members who are known for their work in this area.
  • Discuss how to work in conjunction with your superintendent and administrative team to create or enhance your vision.
  • Share and get feedback on your ideas and plans.

Even if you do not sign up for the full program, you can attend the single day meetings. (Jan 31 and/or Apr 24)

$ 99 for WASCD members;        $ 125 for non-members

WASCD Mentor

A WASCD mentor from your region will provide support in all of 2012 as you work through your first year(s) in your new position.  Here is someone who can help you to learn the ropes as well as provide a more local point of view when needed. WASCD mentors are eager to make your way easier through state and federal requirements and help you with ideas and hints to facilitate curriculum, instruction and assessment development in your district.
This mentorship opportunity is only available as part of the full New Director’s program.

WASCD’s New Directors Dialog

Be part of the small on-line community in Wisconsin of new directors and administrators for curriculum through an online discussion group developed just for you. Here is a forum where you can ask questions, get quick answers and hear what others are trying.  It is an opportunity to know that you are not alone in some of the challenges you are facing.  WASCD will respond to questions posed, and pull in “advisors” based on your questions and issues so that you can also hear from other experienced curriculum leaders in the field.
This opportunity is only available as part of the full New Director’s program.

You must be a WASCD member to participate in the New Directors Program ($89 membership fee)

$250 Full Program (includes 2 meetings, mentor, Dialog and reduced registration for WASCD programs)
