June is the perfect time to celebrate and think back over the school year. While it’s still fresh in your mind, take a moment to reflect on ways your students and/or school community were engaged in math this year. Also, take a moment to reflect on the ways you were engaged in math instruction this year. What criteria comes to mind as you think about engagement?
If this reflection gets you thinking about ways to increase student (and self) engagement, this is the day for you! As you teach your students to have a problem solver's disposition, take away big ideas and key strategies that will benefit your students and you. Engagement turns struggle into productive struggle, and builds student’s identities as doers of mathematics!
Walk away with:
Deeper understanding of effective teaching practices
Engaging activities that you can use with your students
